Stainless steel
Stainless steel contains at least 10.5% chromium in its chemical elements, which can form a protective layer of chromium oxide on the surface, which can effectively prevent rust and corrosion. In addition to chromium, the addition of other elements such as nickel and molybdenum can further enhance its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
Features:
- Strong corrosion resistance: Chromium can form a protective layer of chromium oxide on the surface, making stainless steel excellent in humid and corrosive environments and not easy to rust.
- Aesthetics:The surface is smooth and shiny, and is usually used for products that require aesthetic appearance.
- High temperature resistance: Able to withstand high temperatures, suitable for use in kitchen equipment and certain industrial environments.

Disadvantages:
- High cost: It’s relatively expensive to produce, but its durability and low maintenance costs often save you money in the long run.
Carbon Steel
Carbon steel is primarily iron-based, and its carbon content is usually between 0.05% and 2%. The combination of iron and carbon gives carbon steel its strength and hardness, making it an excellent choice for structural applications, tools, and machinery.
Depending on the carbon content, carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel (carbon content between 0.05% and 0.25%), medium carbon steel (carbon content between 0.25% and 0.6%), and high carbon steel (carbon content greater than 0.6%).
Features:
- High strength: Carbon steel has high strength and hardness, making it very suitable for load-bearing structures.
- Low price: Carbon steel is relatively low in cost, making it suitable for large-scale engineering and manufacturing.
- Easy to process: It can be processed by forging, welding, etc.

Disadvantages:
- Prone to rust: This material can easily oxidize and rust in a humid environment if not protected.
The difference between stainless steel and carbon steel:
1. Stainless steel alloy element content is about 20% or more. So the price is expensive compared to carbon steel.
2. Stainless steel contains chromium. When the chromium content is >12%, an oxide film will be formed on its surface, which has strong corrosion resistance. The carbon content of carbon steel is less than 2.11%. Although its hardness is much higher than that of stainless steel, it is easy to rust.
3. Carbon steel carbon content in 0.2% -0.7%, the colour of iron, magnetic; stainless steel belongs to the high-alloy steel, the appearance of the colour is mostly silver bright, no magnetic, lower carbon content, the addition of alloying elements greatly improves the oxidation resistance, thermal stability.
4.Carbon steel contains carbon (carbon alloy), a small amount of silicon, density is higher than stainless steel, and high hardness, but easy to rust; stainless steel contains acid and alkali oxidation components, density is lower than carbon steel, low hardness, but not easy to rust.
