What Is The Classification Of Aluminum Composite Panel?

Aluminum composite panels have many names, including aluminum composite panels; aluminium composite materials; ACP for short; the world’s first aluminium composite panel was called ALUCOBOND. Aluminium composite panels are composed of two materials (metal and non-metal) with completely different properties. It not only retains the main characteristics of the original component materials (metal aluminium, non-metal polyethylene plastic), but also overcomes the shortcomings of the original component materials, thus achieving many excellent material properties.

Aluminum-plastic composite panels are composed of several layers of materials. The top and bottom layers are high-purity aluminum alloy sheets, and the middle layer is a non-toxic low-density polyethylene (PE) core sheet. A protective film is also applied to the front. For outdoor use, the front of the aluminium-plastic panel is coated with fluorocarbon resin (PVDF), and for indoor use, the front can be coated with non-fluorocarbon resin.

Tensile Strength:

The tensile strength of ACP is one of its important physical properties. According to the different tensile strength, aluminium composite panel can be divided into high strength, medium strength and low strength. High-strength aluminium composite panels are suitable for decorative surfaces that need to bear large weights, such as the external walls of large buildings; medium-strength aluminium composite panels are suitable for the external and internal wall decorations of general buildings; low-strength aluminium composite panels are suitable for occasions that do not have high load-bearing requirements, such as the partial decorations of homes.

Fireproof performance

Aluminum composite panel has both excellent fire resistance. However, it can be divided into flame-retardant, combustible and non-combustible grades according to the different fire protection grades. Flame-retardant grade ACP has better fireproof performance and is suitable for occasions with high fireproofing requirements; combustible grade ACP is suitable for occasions with general fireproofing requirements; non-combustible grade ACP has the highest fireproofing performance and is suitable for occasions with very high fireproofing requirements such as the interior decoration of large-scale public buildings.

Divided by use:

  1. Aluminum composite panel for building curtain wall
    The minimum thickness of its upper and lower aluminum plate is not less than 0.50mm, and the total thickness should be not less than 4mm.The material of aluminum should be in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 3880, and generally it should adopt the series of aluminum alloy plate such as 3000, 5000, etc., and the coating should adopt fluorocarbon resin coating.
  2. Aluminium composite panel for external wall decoration and advertisement
    Upper and lower aluminium plate with a thickness of not less than 0.20mm rust-proof aluminium, the total thickness should not be less than 4mm, the coating is generally used fluorocarbon coating or polyester coating. 2-3mm commercial space header is used more, the general choice of dry hanging of the external wall 3.5mm or more. Small area flat paste selection of 2mm or so.
  3. Indoor ACP
    Upper and lower aluminum panels are generally used for the thickness of 0.20mm, the minimum thickness of not less than 0.10mm aluminium panels, the total thickness is generally 3mm. polyester coating or acrylic coating.

There are two main types of core materials used in ACP: polyethylene (PE) and flame retardant (FR) core materials.

  1. PE core panels are suitable for most general applications because they are lightweight, easy to manufacture and cost-effective.
  2. FR coreboards are designed for applications with higher fire safety requirements, such as high-rise buildings, public facilities and transport hubs. The higher fire resistance and smoke suppression properties of fire retardant core materials make them the preferred choice for projects that prioritise safety and building code compliance.
