Q235 Carbon Steel Channel

Q235 Carbon Steel Channel is commonly used to construct the walls of garages, warehouses, workshops, and other metal buildings, and they are used in a manner similar to studs in traditional wood framing. Columns extend vertically from the bottom plate of the wall to the top plate to bear the vertical load of the building. Channels can support more weight and are more rigid than wood studs, while the weight difference between wood studs and channels is negligible. Of course, channel steel is more difficult to install because it requires welding, bolting, or riveting rather than simply nailing. Channel steel can be used in pole barns to form walls that extend horizontally between the poles to provide attachment points for exterior siding (usually sheet metal). It can also extend along the interior to provide support for drywall or other interior wall finishes. By using channel steel instead of wooden slats or other products, the distance between poles can be increased without affecting the integrity of the wall. If longer, the wood can easily warp or twist, making the finished wall appear wavy or uneven and reducing its rigidity and load-bearing capacity. Channel steel can be used to create secure frames for metal and wood-framed doors and windows in buildings. The four pieces have miter joints at each end, and the channel slides over the wall of a window or door opening. This leaves a flat surface in the opening to mount the door or window on, and it’s safer than wood framing. Channel steel is commonly used to make commercial fire doors as well as frames for underground basement doors.
