SMP coating, that is, silicone-modified polyester coating, is one of the most commonly used topcoats in color-coated steel sheets. It combines the characteristics of polyester resin and silicone resin and has excellent durability and color retention, high wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Under normal circumstances, its service life is more than 10 years. Therefore, SMP color-coated steel plates are widely used in building roofs and wall panels in light industrial areas, commercial areas, residential areas, areas with severe sandstorms, steel plants, and other fields. Since polyester contains active groups -OH/-COOH, it is easy to react with other polymer compounds. However, silicon is a relatively stable chemical element, which can improve the light resistance and chalking resistance of polyester. The denaturation rate of PE can reach 5%-50%. The hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance of the modified polyester coating are improved, so that the SMP color-coated steel has excellent durability and anti-powdering performance.
